Single Parenting; No Easy Task

Tip #1 For Single Parenting:

Have you seen the movie 'Groundhog's Day'? The weatherman, played by Bill Murray, get's stuck in this little town on February 2nd, Groundhogs Day and every morning he wakes up there...it's still February 2nd and the day repeats itself. No matter how the character chooses to live the day, when he wakes up tomorrow, he's going to have to do it all over again.

This is much like single parenting. You wake up, get the kids up, feed the breakfast, take the shower, dress, carpool, go to work, work, leave work, reversed route on drive home, stop at store, home, cook, baths, homework, pass out. Wake up and repeat. It's exhausting. Let's not forget that somewhere in there, the trash must be taken out, the house cleaned up, dishes done, laundry, bills paid and so forth and so on.

Before you know it, your drunk in the bathtub, with a razor on one side and a bottle of prescription pills on the other! My point being, never forget to take time out for you. Each and every day. If that means setting the kids bedtime an hour earlier or waking up an hour earlier or leaving them at the daycare/ sitters for just an hour longer in the afternoon. However you wish to do it, you must always try to have "me" time. It's extremely important for your sanity and well being.
